Want to know your numbers? Try the new free Health Station in Stapleford Care Centre
A new ‘Health Station’ has been installed in the Stapleford Care Centre to help local people take better control of their own health.
The SiSU Health Station is a free, self-service kiosk where people can quickly and easily check their blood pressure, heart rate, weight and body mass index (BMI) measurements. These are all important measurements if you want to understand some key health risks.
It takes just a few minutes and involves standing on the base of the kiosk and holding onto hand grips. People using the Health Station will get valuable insights that they can speak to their GP about if they have any concerns.
Mohammed Akram, Cardiology Pharmacist at Nottingham West PCN (pictured), said: “The Health Station is really easy to use and the results are completely confidential. We hope that people will try it out as a starting point to understanding their health better, or as a way to monitor anything they want to keep an eye on, such as their weight.
“While using the Health Station doesn’t replace a visit to a health professional, finding out your numbers can really help you to understand your own health risks and take steps to improve them. For example, if your blood pressure is shown to be high, you can consider booking an appointment at your GP practice or asking at your local pharmacy to get checked out properly.”
The Health Station has been organised by the Nottingham West PCN Pharmacy Cardiology Team with support and funding from Health Innovation East Midlands.
The Health Station will be in the Stapleford Care Centre for the next three months before moving to Eastwood. Another station is located in the Victoria Shopping Centre in Nottingham.
