Heat health alert – staying safe

While lots of us look forward to the warmer weather it can cause serious problems like heat exhaustion and heatstroke for older and vulnerable people.

To stay safe during the hot weather keep out of the sun 11am to 3pm, drink plenty of water, wear light cool clothes with a hat and sunglasses and don’t forget sunscreen.  Plan exercise or dog walks early in the morning or late in the evening and keep curtains closed in sun-facing rooms.

If you have friends, family or neighbours who are more vulnerable make sure they are aware of the weather forecast and are staying safe, and don’t forget pets feel the heat too.
